Shut Down in D.C.
Early Friday, Bravo announced the first cancellation of their Real Housewives series and the city follow just may not be the show you were thinking. Real Housewives of D.C. has been cancelled after one season on the air. If you are reading this thinking you were going to see Miami next to the cancelled bracket, I would agree with you. RHODC had entertainment value and kept the audience’s attention; it isn’t a secret that Miami has lacked in this department. None the less, one of the most controversial ladies in the Real Housewives franchise was the ultimate demise for the nation’s capital’s reality based show. Michaele Salahi’s antics didn’t just exhaust the women in D.C. last season, but influenced all the other cast members to refuse to shoot season two if Salahi was a part of the show.
My sources tell me all the women stood their ground refusing to take with Salahi saying it was them or Michaele. However, Bravo’s executive vice president, Andy Cohen put a stop to the ultimatums when he made it clear there would be no RHODC without Salahi. I see Cohen’s point, Salahi’s antics were reality television gold, but I have to say , “thanks for making her big head even bigger.” We all know Salahi is sitting in her home tonight basking in the glow that she had the power to shut down a luck warm reality series. And so in the end the two most heard words in D.C. today, Shut Down, poignantly aligns with the fading light on the politically influenced reality show.
